Video: The Weekly Wellness Ritual – Jojoba Scalp Massage

Let me put my beauty editor cap on for today’s Wellness Ritual, Happies, and treat you all to a bit of insider knowledge: Jojoba Oil (the pure, good stuff) is an amazing remedy for scalp irritation and dryness.

This sudden change of season might see your scalp getting slightly more dry than it was in the hotter months, or perhaps, like me, your hormones are causing shifts in the way your body reacts to its environment. Either way, this simple scalp massage will not only rebalance your scalp, but your mind as well. It’s pure bliss. Enjoy!

Jojoba is mostly referred to as oil but it is a liquid wax ester identical to the wax esters that are produced by our sebaceous glands to deep cleanse and moisturise skin and hair, and to create the barrier in the outer skin layer that naturally stops oxidisation and moisture loss from skin cells. Wax esters support the functionality of skin pores and hair follicles. Hair and scalp treated with jojoba are an unsuitable environment for lice and parasite infestation. Jojoba increases elasticity and suppleness in skin by 50% and similarly for hair. Hair treated with jojoba is naturally sealed and resists greening from chlorinated swimming pools. Wax esters make up to 30% of sebum produced in young skin. We wash them away with soaps and shampoos. After the age of 20 for girls and 25 for boys, your body clock switches the production of wax esters off, initiating the skin aging process. Jojoba is the only plant in the world known to produce liquid wax esters. Glands in your eyelids produce the fluid that lubricates and protects the surface of your eyes and stops tear evaporation. This is 50% wax esters. Jojoba is hypoallergenic because it is pure wax esters which are naturally present in your body. Pure cold pressed jojoba is naturally antibiotic, antifungal, antiviral, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, powerfully antioxidant, contains Omega 6 & 9 essential fatty acids and Vitamins A, D & E. We have 37500 jojoba shrubs in our Riverina plantation. Jojoba plants can live 250 years and are Carbon negative. I can tell you much more if you wish.
