Raw Meal Monday: Super Smoothie x 2

Could we all stand up for one second and give Dr. Alejandro Junger a round of applause, please. He is, after all, a bit of a genius.

One of the only doctors in the world who recognises a need to treat patients holistically – and by that I mean looking at their diet, exercise, emotions, toxicity levels and alkalinity when assessing their symptoms – he is at the forefront of ‘modern’ medicine. Note: It’s actually a very ancient practice, however, the realisation that looking at all parts of the whole, to fix the whole, is slowly coming back into practice.

Aside from being a trailblazer in his industry, Dr. Junger is also known for his Clean program, a book loved by none other than Gwyneth Paltrow, and now, me.

The crux of the Clean program is simple: eliminate toxins from your life and you will live happily (and healthily) ever after. Read the book and find out how, I urge you.

But today, I wanted to share with you two recipes from Clean that are PERFECT for Raw Meal Monday. They’re raw, of course, but also deeply nourishing, energising, and totally delicious.

1. Energy Smoothie with Almond Butter & Cardamom

You need:

1/4 cup of almond butter

2 cardamom pods

1 1/2 cups of water (unfiltered if on the Clean program)

1 cup of frozen peaches

1-2 teaspoons of agave syrup

1/2 ice

Throw all the ingredients into the blender, and whizzzzzzz!

Drink, enjoy, savour.

2. Kale, Pineapple, and Chia Smoothie

You need:

1/2 cup of pineapple chunks

2 leaves of kale

2 teaspoons of soaked chia seeds

1 cup water

1-2 teaspoons of agave syrup

1/2 cup ice

Throw all the ingredients into the blender, and whizzzzzzz!

Drink, enjoy, savour.

I think the moral of this story is to experiment with your smoothies. Throw anything from greens to sweet fruits to nuts in there. The more, the better. I’d also highly recommend buying Clean, it’s a wonderful read and gives you great insight into how to be an even better, healthier, happier you. What could be better than that?

Stay Happy,

Yaz x

Yaz! Where oh where can we get frozen peaches? Do you buy the peaches then freeze them yourself? I’m guessing that’s the way to go about it – but it would be fantastic to be able to buy them pre-frozen!
