There’s nothing quite like the experience of walking into a yoga studio filled with 70 other soon-to-be sweaty bodies. The hot air filled with that pungent scent of the class before yours, or the slightly damp carpet that’s been dripped on by hundreds, if not thousands, of people before you. Add to that the lovely lady in front with her feet in your face, and the 7- foot man scrunched beside you innocently flicking his sweat in your direction. Oh, I love yoga.
Over time, you come to accept these moments simply for what they are – life. They’re a very real part of attending a popular yoga studio in a crowded city, and hey, who doesn’t love a bit of shared body fluid after work? (What? Too much.)
That said, however, the fact is there’s few people who wouldn’t wish for a little more mat space in those super busy classes. Or in any class, really. The ability to truly spread out, expand, and open up is the crux of your yoga practice to start with.
So naturally, it was only a matter of time before some clever yogi came to realise that there was a great want in the market for bigger mats. Supersized mats. Loooonger mats. Not just for floor hoggers like myself, but for tall men and ultra flexible women, too.
Well, Happies, that clever yogi came, he saw, he made, and now, thanks to John Friend (the founder of Anusara yoga) and his collaboration with Manduka High Performance Mats we can now all have. Yesssss!
That’s right. Conveniently arriving just before Christmas (and my birthday. Hint, hint family) the John Friend for Manduka Collection allows as much as 6-inches more in width, and 4-inches more in length. Unreal. Think about all that extra spread room, Happies.
Here’s John talking about said mats…
And here’s the good news. These mats can be shipped anywhere in the world. Yep, even to you in Tajikistan. Or you over in the Wallis and Futuna Islands. The only problem is deciding which colour you want. Oh wait, they only have purple. Guess I’ll be taking 1 of those, please. Hooray!
Tell me Happies…
If you’re into yoga would you use a bigger mat?
Do you like the look of these?
Anyone think John is a massive rockstar?
